HST 164: Special Topics

This class is no longer offered as of Fall 2019.

This course will examine the political and military history of England by focusing on the people who attached and occupied England during the ancient and early medieval periods (e.g., Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans), as well as the people with whom the English fought during the high and later Middle Ages (e.g., Welsh, Scots and French). A week of daily lectures at WCC will provide the necessary context for understanding the major political and military events of the period. These lectures will be followed by twelve days of travel throughout England, Scotland and Wales during which time students will visit various historical sites and museums that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire not only an in-depth understanding of England's complex history, but also an appreciation for the local culture and people that are at the heart of international study and cultural immersion.

What Students Say About Online Classes

“My teacher posted his lectures and activities on Blackboard weekly, so I was able to complete all required class work and tests at my own leisure. Most importantly, I learned a ton in the course, and my excellent instructor was available by email around the clock.”
