Rocks Across the Pond: Lessons Learned, Stories Told Book Reading and Discussion

Richard and Kathy Verlander, parents of Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, will lead a reading of their book "Rocks Across the Pond" and discussion about raising children in competitive sports.

Their stories of practicality and inspiration are geared for all ages. Children will love meeting Justin's mom and dad, teenagers will listen for clues on how to make it, and parents will walk away with the tools to balance it all.

The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale before and after the lecture.

Attend this hands-on workshop to develop a resume that will project a positive image of you to an employer. Learn which type of resume is best for you, what employers look for and how to avoid common mistakes. The development of cover letters will also be discussed.

Job Search Techniques

These sessions provide information on the job search process and how to go about finding the job that is right for you.   Learn about various employment resources available to students and alumni that can be used to make the hunt less stressful.  Participants will be provided with information about our online job search system and learn how to use it in their job search.  This workshop is especially beneficial for those students/alumni who have completed a certificate or degree and are ready to engage in a comprehensive job search.

Stars on Stage: Jazz Ensemble Combo Concert and Dance Performances

6:00pm-9:00pm

WCC main campus, Towsley Auditorium

Music and dance pieces will be presented by WCC Performing Arts Department music classes, dance classes and Dance 4 Unity (D4U) Community dance studios. The event opens with the WCC Jazz Ensemble Combo concert in the Morris Lawrence Building Lobby, and concludes with dance performances in Towsley Auditorium. Please bring an unwrapped toy or a donation. 

The concert is a benefit toy drive for Mott's Children's Hospital and Peace Neighborhood Center.
