Grounds Maintenance
Welcome to Washtenaw Community College's Grounds Maintenance Department. Grounds Maintenance
is responsible for ensuring that walkways and parking lots are safely maintained, the outdoor
vegetation is attractive and that all signs are well-lit. Basically if it pertains to anything
outside it falls under our responsibility. Washtenaw Community College's main campus is on 285
acres of property.
The following list is an example of the services provided by the Grounds Maintenance
department.
Maintains approximately 6.1 miles of sidewalk
Mows 49.98 acres of grass
Cares for over 14,000 Tulips
Trim and prune 331 pine trees, 185 flowering crab trees, 127 deciduous trees, 1,034 juniper shrub plants
Maintain 7 parking lots, 2,793 parking spaces, 81 which are handicap/van accessible parking
Maintain fleet of 67 motorized vehicles
Remove snow for campus side walks, parking lots, and road ways
Manage Waste and control litter
Maintain irrigation system
Oversees campus lighting
Maintain baseball and soccer fields
Other areas of responsibilities:

Exterior banner installation
