Have you ever held history in your hand?
In geology and earth science, you can do that. You can learn about rocks that tell a story 4.6 billion years old. You can learn about the dinosaurs, who were around "a heck of a lot longer than we've been here," in the words of Instructor Dave Thomas.

In some classes, you'll take field trips to study the evidence of glacial geology in Washtenaw County. In others, you'll take a three-day fossil expedition to Kentucky. Or maybe you'll travel to Michigan's Upper Peninsula at no extra cost.

Whatever you choose, you're likely to discover something you didn't know about the physical world. Believe it or not, the clues are all around you.

The science requirements of a four-year degree may be satisfied at WCC. Please see the "Transfer Resouces" section of the WCC website for details.

Dino Trek

See pictures from the Dino Trek 2002 class, which took students on the adventure of a lifetime. We searched for dinosaur fossils and much more.

Mastodon as Michigan's State Fossil

The mastodon became Michigan's state fossil in 2002.
