Student Testimonials Kelly Altese Kelly was a 4.0 student who went looking for a challenge. The expectations her instructors had for her were tougher than she expected. "I found the quality of my WCC classes to be extremely high. I had started at a larger university but I was like a small fish in a big pond. At WCC, my instructors cared so much, and the instruction was similar or superior to that at the U-M. Randy LaHote is an amazing instructor. He's the reason I'm an economics instructor at EMU and at WCC. He was willing to spend time with me to answer questions and he encouraged me to transfer and further my study of economics. Phil Tepley After his studies at WCC, Phil transferred to the University of Michigan where he completed his bachelor's degree in economics. He puts his social sciences background to work at the Michigan Small Business Development Center where he works with entrepreneurs and small business owners. "I took quite a few economics, sociology, and psychology courses at WCC. It was a good setting to explore my interests; I settled on economics. My WCC studies strengthened my interest in my field and prepared me well for my U-M experience. If I could give advice to others I'd tell them that education has opened up new opportunities that I'm just beginning to explore. I'd also remind them that they're learning for a purpose and to put their learning into that context. There are real world aspects to what they're being taught." Jlh/01/30/01 |
