Student Testimonials
"I live in Grand Rapids and a teacher from my local community
college encouraged me to look at the facilities at WCC. I
was so impressed that I had my mom come down and see them.
It is obvious to me that the school cares about its students
because we have top-of-the-line equipment in the photography
studios. And I can't say enough about the instructors, they
are just wonderful."

"For me this has been a life enrichment experience. I've always
been interested in photography and WCC has the best reputation
in the region. Taking these classes gives me the opportunity
to meet wonderful people, learn from wonderful instructors,
and grow personally. I'm gaining confidence in what I like
to do."

"The Graphic Design Technology program (GDT) at Washtenaw
Community College (WCC) prepared me to work as a graphic designer
with proficiency and confidence. Technical classes provided
training in applications that I use every day in my career
as a graphic designer. The classes focusing on design with
exercises and projects trained me to solve design problems
and create professional looking pieces for my portfolio. I
received insight from instructors with "real world experiences"
in the field, and I also benefited from class critiques. I
was taught how to use the library and the internet to search
for graphic design businesses locally and abroad. Associations
and clubs for graphic designers were made familiar to me.
Career areas open to graphic designers were researched and
presented to the class. Mock interviews were conducted with
classmates and also a local business professional to refine
presentation skills. I created stationary for my résumé and
cover letter that were perfected in the classroom. And finally,
I assembled my best work into presentation quality portfolio
for review by several graphic designers for a professional
critique. Ultimately, the experiences and skills I gained
prepared me for the job I wanted immediately after graduation;
and because the program is so well structured and work oriented,
the transition from the classroom to the real world was very
smooth."

"The
Graphic Design Technology (GDT) program has been a wonderful
discovery for me - having come to Washtenaw Community College
after already obtaining two degrees and a teaching certificate
in a different field. The program's structure and curriculum
is on the cutting edge of available technology and software,
and I feel that the instructors pay particular attention to
the professional development of their students. The faculty
are some of the finest I've ever experienced. They continually
take a sincere interest in each and every student's vocational
development. Individuals of all levels of interests, abilities,
and talents are able to gain pertinent professional skills
due to the exceptional instruction available within the GDT
program. I truly feel that my education is in the very best
of hands at WCC. I recommend the GDT program with great enthusiasm
for anyone who wants to better oneself both professionally
and personally."
