  3. Photoshop: Camera RAW

    Prerequisite(s): "Digital Cameras 2" and /or "Photoshop Level 1."

    Ready to take your Digital SLR Photography to the next level? Unleash the power of RAW file technology to create stunning images. Get hands-on experience with all of the tools in Photoshop's digital darkroom, the RAW File Converter. Evaluate and adjust exposure, color balance, contrast, sharpness, perspective and a host of other modifications, all before the file is even opened. Learn how to establish an efficient workflow, including Batch Processing. And that's just the beginning! We will also delve into Photoshop's High Dynamic Range (HDR) Imaging capabilities with RAW files and you'll learn how to shoot and process multiple exposures of high contrast scenes, resulting in beautiful images containing a full range of colors and details. Homework assignments will be given and you'll get guided practice on your own photos in class.

    You must have a digital camera that captures a RAW file format and tripod. Bring a USB thumb drive to class. The two optional books, "Real World Camera RAW with Adobe Photoshop CS5," ISBN 9780321713094 and "Practical HDRI," ISBN 9781933952635 are available at the WCC Bookstore.

  4. Piece By Piece: Quilting for Beginners

    Prerequisite(s): Basic hand and machine sewing experience.

    From it's humble beginnings as use for scrap fabric, quilting has been elevated to an art form. Quilts hang in galleries and museums across the country or can lay on the bed on those cold winter nights. Get started creating beautiful quilts by crafting a wall hanging; and get hands-on practice in various quilt making techniques. Learn about fabric selection and preparation, design and tools of the craft. 4 sessions.

    A working sewing machine that you know how to thread and additional materials are required and may cost up to an additional $50. Materials will be discussed during the first class.

    Learn to think freely and create something beautiful or utilitarian in this beginner wheel throwing pottery class. Get instruction and guidance from a talented local artist and studio owner, Kay Yourist. Students will create several finished pieces. 6 sessions.

  6. Tile Making for Beginner and Intermediate Levels Make your own decorative tiles and more!

    Prerequisite(s): None.

    Learn how to conceptualize, design and produce your own vision of decorative tiles. Discussion and demonstration to include design, working with wet clay, slab rolling and cutting techniques, surface decorations and glazing. This class includes 25 lbs of clay, glazes, firing and a bonus 24 hours of open studio time to work on your designs. 8 sessions.

    New students will need to purchase a basic pottery tool kit which will be available on the first night of class for $20.
