    Discover the foundational skills and processes of facilitative mediation, along with the study of different forms of alternative dispute resolution. Topics include: introduction to dispute settlement, conflict theory, principles of negotiation, mediation process, the role of a positive neutral, managing impasse communication skills and ethics. Successful completion of this program will equip the student with the life skills and tools necessary to mediate conflicts and qualify for advanced mediation training programs.

  4. Cottage Food Industry: Make Money Selling Your Home Made Foods A Class in the Permaculture Design Series

    Recently passed amendments to the Food Law of 2000 define a cottage food operation as one where a person produces or packages non-potentially hazardous food in a kitchen of that person's primary domestic residence. The law allows sales of allowable foods produced by a cottage food operation to homes, farm markets, roadside stands, municipal farmers markets, county fairs, celebrations, festivals and other events. Learn how to set up your own cottage based industry and how the concept relates to the Permaculture concept. Examine what foods are allowable for sale, the requirements for labels and listings, sales records, and learn how to plug into the network of existing cottage food operations.

  5. Drupal Build and Manage a Powerful Website

    Prerequisite(s): Ability to use a web browser; knowledge about HTML, CSS, and FTP is helpful, but not required.

    Learn how to create your own website with Drupal, a popular content management system used to run some of the largest websites on the Internet. This class will explain web development basics, how to use Drupal to power a website, and how to extend Drupal to do what you need. The class will also cover best practices and tips for running a Drupal website, including time for student directed questions and answers.

  6. General Civil Mediation Section 2 of the Master Conflict Resolution Specialist Program

    Prerequisite(s): Completion of Basic Mediation training, Juris Doctorate Degree or other relevant experience/training may be considered.

    Examine the role of attorneys in the mediation process, advanced conflict resolution concepts, court processes, diversity issues, mediation process and techniques, negotiation dynamics, dealing with multiple parties and standards of conduct for mediators. This is a Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) MCR 2.411 approved training course.
