    This class is designed for those who have started their family history research but are looking for some guidance. We will look at some of the lesser-used and harder to obtain records — both online and offline — as well as discuss research strategies to help track down elusive ancestors who seem to be hiding. Bring some information about the ancestors you are researching to the first class.

    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics: Windows," "Computer Basics: Mac & iMac," or equivalent experience; ideas for integrating technology into your classroom, and a Google account.

    Google Tools, Evernote, shared calendars and life in the cloud: Keeping up with new Web 2.0 tools can be confusing. This workshop will help you evaluate and integrate these productivity tools into your daily routine. Take advantage of freeware that supports what you need to do, not make it more complicated.

  3. HTML/XHTML with CSS: Level 2

    Prerequisite(s): "HTML/XHTML: Level 1" or equivalent experience.

    Create webpages, coding HTML/XHTML by hand, as you move on to more advanced features of working with HTML/XHTML. You'll learn how to use tables, frames, forms, metadata, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for basic web design. The class emphasizes compliance with Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) so your pages work with various browsers and comply with web standards.

    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics: Windows" or equivalent experience.

    Curious about Microsoft Office? What is the difference between MS Word, WordPad and Notepad? Maybe you'd like to try Excel for your household budgeting or create a fun PowerPoint to display photos in a slideshow? Microsoft Office comes with a simple to use picture library manager and image editor. Get started with short, structured projects that will introduce you to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Windows Picture Editor. You'll leave class well prepared for individual application classes here at WCC and other online options.

  6. OneNote Everything Where You Can Find It

    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics: Windows" or equivalent experience and familiarity with MS Office applications.

    Picture this: You have a project to do, so you develop a budget in Excel, create documents in Word, and find lots of useful web links, pictures and video clips that align perfectly with the project you start accumulating notes from meetings and phone conversations. Now figure out how you're going to keep track of all this and share it with your project team...and the boss! OR...maybe you are planning a vacation...so you create a budget in Excel, save Google Maps of recommended restaurants and web links for places to visit. Wouldn't it be nice to have one place to keep everything and be able to find it when you need it? There is: Microsoft OneNote is an electronic version of the familiar tabbed ring binder that can be used to take notes and gather material from other applications in one place. It's part of the MS Office Suite and integration with other Office applications and Internet Explorer helps make your work as seamless as possible.

    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics: Windows," or equivalent Windows class or experience.

    Photoshop Elements offers the power of full-blown Photoshop software at a fraction of the price and learning curve. Work with images from digital cameras or scanners. Correct color, change tonal values, repair damaged or less-than-perfect photos, use layers, and prepare images for the web and email. Use the organizer to locate, view, and catalog your images so you can file them once and find them later.
