  1. Basketball Skills for Youth

    This class teaches kids the fundamentals of basketball. The class, which is designed for novice and experienced players, emphasizes developing individual and team skills. Each day, students will practice establishing offensive and defensive positions, rebounding, passing, and shooting.

    Children must be 5 or older.

  2. Boating Skills & Seamanship

    Learn the fundamentals of boat handling and modern navigation techniques in a class that's co-sponsored by the Ann Arbor Sail and Power Squadron. This course covers required information for a Michigan Boating Safety Certificate, boating tips, and the nautical rules of the road. The first four chapters of the text contain core boating information, while the last chapter contains an introduction to GPS waypoint navigation and piloting via dead reckoning skills. Home study is required. Many insurance companies will offer discounts on boat insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course.

    You must buy a course pack at the first class session. It includes a textbook, a CD, and practice charts, and costs $35. Families whose members have registered individually can share one course pack.

  3. Juggling Workshop Bean Bags, Scarves, and Balls!

    By popular demand, we present this workshop where you'll learn the method of cascade juggling. Discover how to keep three objects moving in relationship to each other through hands-on experience juggling balls, scarves, and pins. We explore overthrow technique, juggling while eating an apple, and juggling variations. You'll take home your own juggling bean bags. This beginner's workshop is for people who have never juggled or have never mastered juggling three balls.

    Is Tai Chi Chuan an exercise for health and relaxation or a martial art? The answer is: both. In this beginning class, which is based on the Yang style, you'll learn techniques to promote relaxation of the mind and body, centering, better balance, concentration, and improved health. Tai Chi Chuan may also facilitate academic, intellectual, and conceptual learning.

    Ready for more challenge? This class offers a higher level of instruction in Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan. You can work on the form at your own pace and practice some elementary pushing hands and applications.

    Work directly with a group instructor at Chippewa Racquet Club to learn the rules of tennis. You'll also learn techniques for hand and foot work, stance, basic strokes, and grips.

    Section 1 is for high intermediate and advanced players, and section 2 is for advanced beginner and low intermediate players.

    Many aspire to but few master the game of golf. Professional golfers will tell you that you'll improve your game much more quickly if you're taught the correct way to play — which includes proper exercise. The instructor will discuss grip, alignment, and posture, as well as strength and flexibility, to make your walk less spoiled.
