  1. Boating Skills & Seamanship

    Learn the fundamentals of boat handling and modern navigation techniques in a class that's co-sponsored by the Ann Arbor Sail and Power Squadron. This course covers required information for a Michigan Boating Safety Certificate, boating tips, and the nautical rules of the road. The first four chapters of the text contain core boating information, while the last chapter contains an introduction to GPS waypoint navigation and piloting via dead reckoning skills. Home study is required. Many insurance companies will offer discounts on boat insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course.

    You must buy a course pack at the first class session. It includes a textbook, a CD, and practice charts, and costs $35. Families whose members have registered individually can share one course pack.

    Prerequisite(s): None.

    Have you ever had a paranormal experience? Many people have had one at some time or another in their lives. You know, that unexplained something. Join Beverly Fish, a psychic medium who has been investigating the spirit world since she became aware of the spirit person in her family home at the age of 10. Sharing tips on how to set up an investigation and the use of equipment to help give evidence of energy fields and EVPs, learn what to be aware of, when to call in an expert and what to avoid when "hunting" ghosts. 1 session.

  4. Primitive Rug Hooking 2

    Prerequisite(s): Primitive Rug Hooking 1 or equivalent knowledge.

    Continuing from where part 1 left off, learn more advanced techniques like: how to create patterns, color planning, problem solving and creative finishing techniques. Create a more advanced project to keep and bring your questions and projects for advice.

    Bring a pair of scissors and a rug hooking frame or quilting hoop that is at least 14" in diameter and 1" wide.

  5. So You Want to Fly? An Overview of Flying for a Hobby or Career

    If you've ever thought about becoming a pilot, whether for fun or as a potential career, learn more about aviation in this three session class designed especially for the inquiring or aspiring pilot. Learn what it takes to fly and how planes function. Examine meteorology, how to plan a flight, and basic radio call language. Visit Solo Aviation, Inc., a flight school at the Ann Arbor Municipal Airport, as well as a control tower (subject to current security level approvals), look underneath the cowling of an airplane and learn about engine fundamentals, and sit in various airplane models to compare the difference. Short of a semester-long flight school, gain a realistic view of flight and flying in this specially designed class.

    Work directly with a group instructor at Chippewa Racquet Club to learn the rules of tennis. You'll also learn techniques for hand and foot work, stance, basic strokes, and grips. 10 sessions.

    Tuesday's class is for high intermediate players and Thursday's class is for advanced beginners. No class on Apr 3 or Apr 5.
