  1. Diabetes: What's the Risk? 2009 Lecture Series for Health, Wellness & Fitness

With complications like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and limb loss, diabetes is a disease you want to know how to prevent or control. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that nearly one third of people with diabetes don't know they have it. Although type 2 diabetes is most common in people over 60, recent trends show more and more children and younger adults are developing it. In recognition of National Diabetes Awareness Month, we will define diabetes, discuss why you should be tested for it, and identify ways to prevent it. The presentation will be followed by questions and answers and discussion.

A limited number of complimentary seats are available to members of the Health & Fitness Center at WCC. Members should inquire about availability at the Center's front desk.
