    Have you ever been struck with wonder at someone else's ability to combine several kinds of flowers into a season-long display of color and beauty? This class will focus on designing flower gardens for color, form, texture, and seasonal interest using perennials, foliage plants, ornamental grasses, and other flowering plants. We look at both site preparation and design. Soil structure, mulching and organic nutrients for sunny, shady, dry, or moist areas will be discussed.

    Houseplants have the ability to improve the nature of our home environments, as they improve the quality of our air. It can be challenging, however, to make the best choices for our particular growing conditions and to maintain them once you're sharing space. This course covers the basics of choosing houseplants for your home, caring for them appropriately (watering, fertilizing, providing the right amount of light, transplanting) as well as identifying and handling common problems.
