  1. Upholstery: Sewing Techniques

    Prerequisite(s): Basic hand and machine sewing skills are required.

    Learn basic techniques of pattern making, planning, and sewing for upholstery and slipcovers. Techniques learned can be applied to your own furniture. Bring a small piece of furniture to class as you develop your technique.

    This class may be taken as an elective for WCC's Sewing Professional Certificate. Class is held at 3127 Baker Road, Dexter 48130.

  2. Woodworking 1 Everything You Need for Woodworking

    Acquaint yourself with basic woodworking concepts, techniques, and practices. Get an introduction to planning, design, materials, common hand and power tools, and safety. The first three classes cover processing rough stock wood to finish dimensions and assembling glued panels. After that students begin work on their own projects.

    You must supply safety glasses, a 12'-25' tape measure, and wood for your project. Hearing protection is provided. Section 1- which meets from January 21 through March 10 — does not meet Saturday March 3, 2012.

  3. Woodworking II

    Prerequisite(s): "Woodworking 1" or equivalent experience and lathe work or turning knowledge subject to approval of instructor.

    Do you have intermediate or advanced woodworking skills that includes experience with circular saws, band saws, joiners, planers, drill presses, routers, lathes, and other power tools? In this class you'll have the opportunity to use those skills and apply them on advanced woodworking projects.

    You must supply project plans, project materials, and safety glasses. Hearing protection is provided.
    Section 1, which runs from January 17 to March 6, does not meet on Tuesday February 28, 2012.
