Languages

With our dedicated and knowledgeable faculty, build a basis of new or improved language skills for the 21st century. Whether for inter-personal, business or travel needs, our classes build conversational skills and cultural awareness. You may choose American Sign Language or one or more world languages including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish.

American Sign Language — Level 1

Prerequisite(s): None.

In level 1, learners are introduced to ASL and includes learning basic vocabulary, alphabet, numbers, fingerspelling; and also body language, facial expressions, deaf history and culture, and more. 10 sessions.

Creative Writing

Prerequisite(s): None.

This class offers a gentle, structured environment where you can find inspiration for your work. Fellow writers and an experienced instructor and author read your work and offer thoughtful feedback. You'll also look at others' work through the eyes of a writer.

French Level 1 Getting Started; First Level Conversational French Language and Culture

Prerequisite(s): None

Have fun and learn to speak a new language. Using various teaching methods, instructors will cover topics including proper pronunciation, greetings and useful expressions for daily life, identifying people and things. Learn and become familiar with culture and country knowledge including climate, history, beliefs, customs, and food.

Prerequisite(s): RosettaStone is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. You must have a computer, a USB headset with a microphone and a high-speed Internet connection such as DSL.

WCC is pleased to announce the availability of RosettaStone. This self-paced, interactive language learning program is completely adaptable to your busy schedule. There are no classes to squeeze onto your calendar and no translations to memorize. RosettaStone is available online, so you can practice your new language skills anywhere you have a computer with Internet access. RosettaStone teaches languages the same way you learned your first language: by pairing words with images, easily and naturally.
