  1. Auto Repair: Beginning Car Maintenance & Repair

    Know your car and learn to speak the lingo. This class is a combination of lectures and hands-on experience that will help you learn how to identify repairs you can perform and which ones to refer to a professional. You'll also learn how to communicate effectively with repair technicians. Heating and cooling systems, tires and rotation, fuel systems, and brakes will be covered. No previous experience is necessary.

    Bring safety glasses and your own car to work on in class.

  2. Auto Repair: Intermediate to Advanced Car Maintenance & Repair

    Prerequisite(s): "Auto Repair: Beginning Car Maintenance & Repair" or experience in basic auto repair.

    Lectures and hands-on activities provide guided practice in more advanced repair techniques, identifying system problems and needed repairs, and communicating knowledgeably and effectively with repair facilities. The class covers computer systems, tires and rotation, fuel systems, transmissions, lubrication, suspension and steering systems, brakes, and drive trains.

  3. MapSource for Bikers: Take a Look Put Some Software in Your Toolbox

    Prerequisite(s): Basic computer and GPS skills.

    Got a Garmin GPS? Maybe you're already using it on your rides, but have you tried creating a trip with MapSource and downloading it to your GPS before you go? MapSource provides detailed road information to keep you on paved roads, include points of interest, and give you alternate routes to try. If you bring your laptop (with MapSource), GPS and cable, you can make this a hands-on class. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the demo. It will give you something to do until the weather warms up!

    You'll need Garmin MapSource software and the software that came with your GPS installed on your laptop if you bring these along.

  4. Motorcycle Safety: Basic Rider Course One-Weekend Version

    Prerequisite(s): At least 15 and have a stage 1 or higher Michigan driver's license.

    If you have never ridden a motorcycle, this class will teach you how. You'll learn the mental and physical skills needed to ride on public roads and become licensed. You'll ride two-wheeled manual-shift-and-clutch motorcycles provided by WCC on our riding range.

    You must be able to balance and support a two-wheeled motorcycle and operate manual hand and foot controls for shifting and braking; have medical insurance or be self-insured, and sign a liability waiver. If you are under age 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the liability waiver at the start of the class. Students are required to furnish their riding gear including over the ankle leather boots. You must pass the Basic RiderCourse knowledge and riding skills tests to successfully complete this class.   5. Motorcycle Safety: Performance Based — Licensing Course

    Prerequisite(s): At least 15 with a stage 1 or higher Michigan Driver's License.

    If you're an experienced but unlicensed motorcycle rider, this class is for you. You'll improve your riding skills and this one-day class will help you get a motorcycle endorsement on your Michigan driver license.

    You must provide your own street legal, licensed, two-wheeled motorcycle and show registration and proof of motorcycle insurance. Scooters that are licensed by the State of Michigan as motorcycles may be ridden in the Performance Based class. If the motorcycle isn't registered in your name, you must have the owner's written permission to ride the motorcycle in class. You must pass a basic riding skills test that includes starting, stopping, shifting, and turning to be allowed to participate in the range portion of this class. You must have medical insurance or be self-insured, and sign a liability waiver. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must sign the liability waiver at the start of the class. Students are required to furnish and wear their riding gear, including over the ankle leather boots.
