E-Marketing Certificate

This certificate program combines social media marketing tools and techniques with basic skills in photo/video and web-presence (site, blog, CMS) that are critical to effective online marketing for businesses and nonprofit organizations.

The number of classes and hours that each student chooses to take to earn the certificate varies, beyond the minimum requirement. The intent is that the student selects the classes based on their own existing skills and their professional aspirations. The classes and hours that the student has completed will be printed on the back of the certificate, to document the individual program they built.

Requirements

You must take all required E-Marketing classes (four classes, 12 hours) plus one elective E-Marketing class. The required classes are:

  • E-Marketing for Small Business and Nonprofit Organizations
  • E-Marketing: Social Media Best Practices
  • E-Marketing: Grow Your Business with LinkedIn
  • E-Marketing: Search Engine Optimization Tips and Tricks

Other requirements:

  • Blogs, Content Management, Website Classes — must take a minimum of 12 hours
  • Images and Video Classes — must take a minimum of eight hours

Credit for completing a class is granted for full attendance. Exceptions will be considered based on instructor discretion.

Fluid Program

Content of existing courses will be updated as technologies and trends change. New courses will be added as appropriate.

Two-year Limit

Due to the ever-changing nature of this field, students must complete their certificate within two years. There is no minimum time set to complete; once you have met the minimum requirements, you should apply for the certificate.

To obtain the certificate, students must submit the application form. Full attendance for each class listed will be verified and a certificate will be generated. Allow two to four weeks for verification/processing.

Grandfathering

Certificate candidates may include required/elective courses they have completed from Fall 2010 forward. There is no test-out option available.

  1. Dreamweaver Level 1

    Prerequisite(s): Computer Basics 2: Windows, or equivalent class or experience and web browsing skills. Some HTML knowledge is helpful.

    Create and manage websites with clean and compliant code. Use this powerful web tool to define your site and create basic pages, hyperlinks, images, image maps, tables, and interactive rollovers. You'll convert content from Word documents and use automated Dreamweaver features.

    This class may be taken as an elective for WCC's E-Marketing Certificate. Dreamweaver CS5 (Windows) is used in class. Class meets Monday-Wednesday-Wednesday. No class 5/28.

    Prerequisite(s): "Dreamweaver Level 1" or equivalent experience.

    Learn how to implement forms, create frames and Cascading Style Sheets, and use the built-in JavaScript features and other interactive elements of this powerful web tool.

    This class may be taken as an elective for WCC's E-Marketing Certificate. Dreamweaver CS5 (Windows) is used in class.

This seminar course is designed to offer managers the bigger picture on how electronic marketing can be used to benefit their organization. Explore effective sites and walk away with a surplus of new ideas on how to use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more to give your business a boost. We'll also look at some online fundraising applications for your nonprofit organization.

Successful bloggers know who they're trying to reach and what 'voice' and writing style to use for a given audience or demographic. They also get to know the length and frequency of posts that keeps people coming back and new readers seeking them out.

Do you know what they're saying about you? Is the information accurate? Make it easy for your happy customers to build buzz for your business.
