  1. The Task of Divorce and the Legal System

    Examine issues divorcing couples must address as you explore the divorce process and its relationship to the legal system. Recognize ways to help clients as they navigate through the process and legal system at this difficult time in their lives. Learn about the task of divorce, including the physical separation, parenting time and decision making issues, children and money decisions, spousal support and the marital estate. Gain a working understanding of the court process and the concept of the divorce as a lawsuit. Finally, learn about the variety of divorce professionals involved in the process including lawyers, therapists, financial planners, accountants, arbitrators and mediators.

  2. Therapeutic Responses to Sexual Orientation Affirmative Therapeutic Practices for Those Working with LGBT Clients

    One of the continued calls from the NASW is for all social workers to work to ensure each client's right to dignity and self-determination. Whether you are knowingly working with lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender clients, learn affirmative therapeutic techniques that can be critical to your success. Learn to understand terminology specific to the LGBT community, and examine why conversion, reparative & reorientation therapies are not congruent with the NASW Code of Ethics & Standards for Cultural Competency. Review techniques employed when using Gay Affirmative Therapeutic Techniques and review those techniques in an interactive format. Finally, examine best practices for social workers to employ when working with LGBT clients in this multimedia course which includes group exercises and movie clips.
