    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics: Windows," or equivalent Windows class or experience. Photoshop or Photoshop Elements experience is suggested but not required.

    Whether you're an amateur or professional photographer, you'll wonder how you kept your sanity before Lightroom, Adobe's software to help you manage, organize and correct images. Lightroom offers five functional modules: Library, to organize your images; Develop, to enhance your images; and Slide Show, Web Gallery, and Print, to share your images. Lightroom works hand-in-hand with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, or as a stand-alone application.

  2. Animal Experiences A Writing Workshop

    Have you ever reflected on the special connections that you have with the animals in your life and thought about recording them in a creative manner? Here's an opportunity to explore these unique relationships through writing and sharing with a community of "like hearted" individuals, a practice that can serve a holistically therapeutic (and enjoyable) purpose! Betsy Adams brings her 30+ years of work with animals (in areas of natural healing and communication), her masters in creative writing (Boston University) and her vast experience in teaching (at all age levels) together in one special venue.

  5. Breathe & Tap for Emotional Freedom!

    Learn Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)--meridian tapping--and breath-work to help yourself and your patients restore, promote and support balance. Both EFT and breath-work are non-invasive, complementary interventions that are easy to learn, supported by research and can be applied in minutes. They are accepted by many nationally-known, holistic, physicians and Mind-Body Medicine practitioners.
    Cathy Holland BS, RN is a board member of the Michigan Holistic Nurses Association. She has been studying Mind-Body Medicine for many years and using EFT with success on herself, patients, family and friends since 2002.

    Please arrive 15 minutes early for roll-call and bring your lunch; snacks will be provided throughout the day.

    Contact hours from "Breathe & Tap for Emotional Freedom!" may be applied toward the continuing education requirements for Michigan Nursing license renewal, and the Holistic Nursing Certification examination and re-certification process.   7. Computer Basics 1: Getting Started With Your Windows Computer — Daytime Start With Confidence!

    Is it time to become computer literate? If you have limited computer skills and maybe even some computer anxiety this is the class for you. The class philosophy of "no student left behind" and "repetition, repetition, repetition" helps provide a solid set of skills to launch you into the computer age. There is a special focus on computer terms and setting up Windows to make it easier for a new learner to use. In addition, home practice suggestions help you take those skills home with you.

    Windows 7 is used in class, but Windows XP can also be demonstrated. Computers are provided, but students with laptops (Windows) are welcome to bring them. The optional book, "Easy Microsoft Windows," is available in XP, Vista and Windows 7 versions. Students are encouraged to purchase the version for the operating system they are using, after the first class meeting.   8. Computer Basics 2: Windows

    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics 1: Getting Started with Your Windows Computer" or equivalent experience.

    Windows is the electronic manager of your computer and you are the CEO. It's crucial for you to know what Windows is doing for you and how it works. Would you like to understand the Windows GUI (graphical user interface) better? What about all those programs and file types? How well are you working with files and folders — do you know where and how to find your "stuff". Home practice suggestions help you apply new skills on your home computer.

    Section 1 will focus on Windows 7. Windows 7 Computers are provided in class, but students are welcome to bring their own laptops with XP or Vista to Section 2 (Daytime). The optional reference book, "Easy Microsoft Windows," is available in XP, Vista and Windows 7 versions. Students are highly encouraged to purchase the version for the operating system they have at home, after the first class meeting.     Is your main Internet skill sending and receiving emails? Do you struggle with receiving and sending attachments? Do you know what a PDF file is? We begin with a thorough introduction to the Internet Explorer browser and discover how to print efficiently from the Internet, download information from the Internet and explore various websites.

    Prerequisite(s): "Computer Basics: Internet" or equivalent experience.

    So many websites and so little time! Come to this theme lab to explore websites and practice new skills. Possible topics include: downloading programs and files from the Internet, online entertainment, other communication opportunities (Skype, Facebook, chat), watching TV online, fun shopping sites to visit, etc. Other topics will be considered based on student interest and skill level.
