WCC Board Seeks Candidates to Fill Vacancy
The WCC Board of Trustees is seeking candidates to serve two of the remaining four years of Trustee David Rutledge’s six-year term. Rutledge, a three-term WCC trustee, was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November and will begin his House responsibilities in January.
Rutledge was first elected to the WCC board in 1996 and reelected in 2002 and 2008. He served as board president in 2001-2002 and currently holds the office of board treasurer. During his tenure on the WCC board, Rutledge was engaged at the national level with the Association of Community College Trustees, including serving as its board chair for one year. His new responsibilities as a legislator for the 54th District require that he step down from the WCC Board of Trustees in December.
The trustee appointee will serve until the next general election in 2012. The appointment is from Jan. 1, 2011, through Dec. 31, 2012. The board seeks candidates with a genuine interest in and dedication to the College. Trustees serve without compensation or per diem.
Interested parties should submit a letter of interest and vita to Mary Faulkner, assistant to the board, by Dec. 13. Letters may be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to her attention at Washtenaw Community College, 4800 East Huron River Drive, SC 225, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. For more information, call Faulkner at 734-973-3621.
