Auditions Nearing for Musical Showcase for WCC Students
Auditions will be held on two consecutive Fridays—April 17 and 24—for a new showcase where WCC student musicians will get feedback from record producers, booking agents, and club and studio owners.
The auditions will be held from 2:30pm to 5:00pm each day in room 154 of the Morris Lawrence building.
Students who are chosen will perform at the Student Sound Wave showcase on Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00pm in WCC's Towsley Auditorium. Student musicians will receive feedback from the panel of industry experts, and many will also get a chance to talk to the pros after the show to share their promotional packages and demo CDs.
“It is my hope that the students will make the contacts that will move them from the classroom to working musicians, or at least point them in the right direction,” said John E. Lawrence, a popular musician and songwriter who has taught at the College for many years.
The concert is being planned and organized by WCC students enrolled in Lawrence's Self Management for Working Artists class. The showcase, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the College's School of Music and Performing Arts.
