WCC Hosts Job Fair March 20

WCC hopes to make finding a job a little easier for students and community members when it hosts the 15th Annual Spring Job Fair and Nonprofit Showcase on Tuesday, March 20, from noon to 4:00pm in the Morris Lawrence building. The event is free and open to the public.

Approximately 50 employers will be present. Representatives from each company will meet with job seekers to discuss employment opportunities within their organization. According to David Wildfong, a student advisor in WCC’s Employment Services Center, employers routinely tell fair organizers that they would like job seekers to:

  • Dress professionally
  • Bring many copies of a well-crafted résumé
  • Prepare an introduction speech to create a positive impression

Also attending will be about 20 representatives from nonprofit agencies. They will discuss the services and resources they provide for their clients in addition to the employment opportunities they offer.

“We had approximately 650 job seekers attend the 2011 Spring Job Fair and Nonprofit,” Wildfong said. “Job fairs are excellent opportunities to meet face to face with employers and have the chance to network with them. This face-to-face contact can be extremely effective in the job search process.”

The WCC Employment Services Center and the Student Resource and Women’s Center are cosponsoring the event. For more information, call 734-677-5155 or send an email to careers@wccnet.edu.
