WCC Offers Scholarships to High School Seniors

High school seniors in Washtenaw County can apply for two different scholarships that will pay their full tuition at Washtenaw Community College. The application deadline for the scholarships, which were established for students from Washtenaw County, is May 1, 2009.

Each year, WCC awards scholarships to more than 70 in-district seniors from public high schools in Washtenaw County.

WCC will award the President's Honor Scholarship to five outstanding students from each public high school in the county. Students who apply must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or more on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship pays full tuition for two consecutive semesters (fall and winter), and provides a book allowance each semester. Scholarship recipients must enroll at WCC for at least 12 credit hours each semester. The scholarship is renewed the following year if the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA at WCC and completes at least 24 credit hours.

WCC will award the Procassini Honor Scholarship to one in-district student from each public high school in Washtenaw County. It’s awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and/or outstanding accomplishments in high school. The scholarship pays full tuition for two consecutive semesters (fall and winter), and provides a book allowance each semester. Scholarship recipients must enroll at WCC for at least 12 credit hours each semester. The scholarship is renewed the following year if the recipient maintains a 2.3 GPA at WCC and completes at least 24 credit hours.

Students only need to fill out one application to be considered for both scholarships.

Students must include a 250-word personal statement, a letter of recommendation, and an official copy of their high school transcript with the application.
