WCC Website is Finalist for National Awards
WCC’s redesigned website is a finalist for the two most important awards in a national contest for college and university websites. The awards are sponsored by eduStyle, a website for web design professionals in higher education.
In the Best Overall Web Site category, the other finalists are American University and The College of William & Mary. In the Best Home Page category, the other finalists are the University of Virginia and Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
“We’re very flattered, since simply being nominated for these awards is an honor,” said Christopher Billick, director of Web Services. “It’s especially gratifying because the selections are by our peers and all of the other finalists in our categories are universities.”
The eduStyle site showcases higher education websites from around the country, and users can vote thumbs up or down on a design and post comments. The site’s editors chose the finalists based on those votes and comments.
Forty-one sites representing 29 schools and five blogs are finalists in 20 categories. Two awards will be made in each category: one by a panel of nationally recognized judges and a people’s choice award voted by the website’s visitors. The winners will be announced at the eduWeb Conference in Chicago on July 21.
The redesigned WCC website that launched Feb. 26 represents the first phase in a project that will eventually result in the revamping of the entire site.
