Registration Deadline Nears for Fall 2009 Semester
Students who haven’t registered yet for Fall Semester should do so as soon as possible to get the best selection of classes, according to Larry Aeilts, WCC’s registrar. Registering right away is especially important because WCC is experiencing a sharp increase in enrollment.
Fall Semester starts Aug. 28, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 6:00pm. A schedule of credit classes is available on WCC’s website.
“It appears we have a significant number of new students coming in,” said Aeilts. Registrations are up by double digits over last year, Aeilts said. In the Spring/Summer Semester, WCC experienced a 16 percent enrollment increase over the same semester last year.
Online classes have been especially popular with students registering for Fall Semester, Aeilts said. That continues a trend from Spring/Summer Semester, when registrations for online classes nearly doubled over last year. WCC offers classes that are taught totally online and blended classes that combine online instruction with traditional face-to-face class sessions.
Sections for some fall classes are already full, Aeilts said. If you want to take a class that’s full, he said you should get on its waitlist as soon as possible. In a typical semester, WCC moves more than 1,000 students from waitlists into classes.
Students register for credit classes online. If you need computer access or help with registering, visit the Student Connection on the second floor of WCC’s Student Center building. If you have questions about registration, call the Student Connection at 734-973-3543.
New students must submit an online application and be admitted before they can register.
Registration is also underway for WCC’s LifeLong Learning non-credit classes. You do not have to be admitted to WCC to take the classes. LifeLong Learning offers classes in everything from business to photography. You can register for LifeLong Learning classes online, by mail, or in person at the Student Connection.
