Award winners announced at WCC Student Art Show

Versatility was on full display at the opening reception of the 2019 Student Art Show on Thursday at Washtenaw Community College. The evening event featured an awards ceremony, with the show’s top two honors going to student artists who excelled while experimenting with mediums outside their primary focus.

WCC ESL instructor gets her 'spelling geek on' at spelling bee fundraiser

There are more than 476,000 entries in the unabridged Webster’s Third New International Dictionary. Betsy Foss is responsible for picking out a few dozen of the best, most interesting and most challenging words from the tome.

A Humanities, Social & Behavioral Sciences faculty member at Wasthenaw Community College who specializes in English-as-a-Second-Language instruction, Foss has found a new outlet for her love of words.

WCC Board of Trustees elects officers for 2019-2020

Christina M.H. Fleming was elected as chairperson of the Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees by fellow members of the board at its Tuesday, Feb. 26 organizational meeting.

Vice-chair: William G. Milliken, Jr.

Secretary: David DeVarti 

Treasurer: Angela Davis

Ruth Hatcher, Dr. Richard Landau, and Diana McKnight-Morton make up the remainder of the Board of Trustees.

The board members are unchanged from 2018 after McKnight-Morton and Landau were re-elected to their six-year appointments in November 2018.

WCC Student Journalists Honored by Press Association

The Michigan Press Association honored WCC student journalists with 23 awards in this year’s collegiate newspaper contest. The Washtenaw Voice won firsts for general excellence and overall design and third place for headline writing, and 14 staff members won individual awards for writing, editing, design, and photography.

College Transfer Fair Set for Oct. 7

People interested in learning about their educational options beyond WCC are invited to attend the College’s Fall Transfer Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10:00am to 3:00pm on the second floor of the Student Center building. The event is free and open to the public.

This week WCC rolls out new pages on its award-winning website that highlight three non-traditional ways to take classes: online, in a blended format that combines online and classroom learning, and on weekends.

WCC Highlights World Cultures Oct. 10

WCC will celebrate the diversity of its students and the Ann Arbor area with a day of music, fashion, food, and dance on Saturday, Oct. 10. The “World Cultural Celebration” runs from 2:00pm to 8:00pm in the Morris Lawrence building.
