WCC student wins $120,000 scholarship

A Washtenaw Community College student has earned a prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

Maria Paula Salazar is one of 47 students nationwide – and the only from Michigan – to earn the highly-selective scholarship that awards up to $40,000 annually for three years to the nation’s top community college students seeking to complete a bachelor’s degree.

WCC Board Approves 2018-19 Tuition and Fee Rates for Credit Courses

Tuition and fee rates for Washtenaw Community College continue to be among the lowest for Michigan community colleges with the total cost of enrollment for WCC students consistently ranking in the lowest cost quartile. In an effort to maintain an affordable cost of education, the college is proposing no increase to In-District tuition rates and modest increases for all other residency categories.

Learn About Transfer Opportunities March 4

WCC students who want to transfer to a four-year college or university can meet with representatives from more than 30 institutions at the 14th Annual Transfer Fair on Wednesday, March 4.

WCC Seminar Looks at In-Demand Jobs Feb. 18

Although Michigan is losing jobs at an alarming rate, some industries are hiring—and paying good wages. Find out about them at the “Highway to High Paying Jobs Seminar” at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the Morris Lawrence building at Washtenaw Community College. A light luncheon at 11:30am will precede the event, which is free and open to the public.

Seminar at WCC Focuses on Helping Area Businesses Grow

“Helping Employers Thrive & Grow,” a seminar aimed at connecting employers with local support services and resources that can help them in a tough economy, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Towsley Auditorium in Washtenaw Community College’s Morris Lawrence building. There’s no charge for the seminar, which runs from 8:00am to 1:00pm, but employers are asked to register by Feb. 12.

WCC Hosts Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads with Author Timothy Ferris

Timothy Ferris, the author of “Seeing in the Dark: How Amateur Astronomers are Discovering the Wonders of the Universe,” will discuss his book Thursday, Jan. 29, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm in Towsley Auditorium, which is located in the Morris Lawrence building at Washtenaw Community College. His talk is part of the sixth annual Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads program.
