WCC showcasing advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity programs at NAIAS

DETROIT, Michigan (January 14, 2019) – The term 'advanced transportation' has been defined as the point where advanced manufacturing and information technology intersect. Washtenaw Community College is back at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) to showcase how it is combining those two worlds to help create the talent pipeline for the mobility revolution.

90 new stations will make WCC's recycling effort easier, more effective

When Washtenaw Community College students return for the start of the winter semester on January 14, they’ll be greeted by 90 new recycling and waste stations placed in corridors, lobbies and other common spaces around campus.

The college’s Recycle Operations department placed the stations over the holiday break with the goal of making recycling efforts even more easy, accessible and effective.

“WCC has long boasted an engaged and active recycling community,” said Recycle Operations Manager Rebecca Andrews.

Student food pantry gets big donation from a little WCC teamwork

A little teamwork by the Washtenaw Community College custodial team, its Recycle Operations department and members of the student honor society Phi Theta Kappa is resulting in significant financial support for WCC students with food insecurities.

In the Fall 2018 semester, more than $1,200 was raised for the college’s Student Resource Center food pantry thanks to those groups rolling up their sleeves and removing returnable cans and bottles from the college’s recycling stream.

Deadline Nears for Montreal Film Festival Adventure

Once again, Washtenaw Community College is offering an opportunity to attend the Montreal World Film Festival, which will be held Sept. 3-7. The July 9 registration deadline is fast approaching for one of North America’s premier cinematic events.

Financial Aid Still Available for Fall 2009 Semester

Haven’t applied yet for financial aid for Fall Semester at WCC? There’s no need to panic. “It really isn’t too late to apply,” said Lori Trapp, director of Financial Aid.

Registration for Fall 2009 Semester Starts July 15

With registration for WCC’s Fall Semester starting soon, both new and returning students are encouraged to see an advisor or counselor in Counseling and Career Planning to get help choosing classes.

Photography Class Travels to Morocco

Ceramics Show Features Works Created in New Studio

Works created by students and faculty members in WCC’s new ceramics studio will be exhibited at the College’s Gallery One from June 15 through July 17. The show is titled “New Beginning: Ceramics at Washtenaw Community College.”

A team of educators representing The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools will visit Washtenaw Community College Oct. 12-14 to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the College.

WCC Grad a Good Morning America Success Story

Cameramen from ABC’s Good Morning America were among the family and friends attending the Washtenaw Community College Commencement May 16. They were there to film Scott Jones and Randy Dunny as they received their degrees with over 400 of the more than 2,100 certificate and degree candidates participating in this year’s ceremony.

Women’s Council Luncheon Celebrates Female Role Models

Liz Orbits, manager of WCC’s Student Resource and Women’s Center, sees women all the time who want to get a college degree but face obstacles. They may be single parents, lack transportation, or have no female role models to look to for guidance. That’s why she and 250 others gathered at the Morris Lawrence building May 12 for the 12th Annual Women’s Council Luncheon. It’s an annual fundraising event for the WCC Foundation that celebrates the power of female leadership while raising money for women’s scholarships.

Living Legends Concert Features Jazz Keyboardist Jeff Lorber

Note: The Living Legends concert featuring Jeff Lorber on Wednesday, June 17, has been canceled. If you purchased tickets, you'll be contacted and will receive a refund. However, please join us as Lorber presents a free music workshop Tuesday, June 16, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in Towsley Auditorium. The workshop will cover topics such as music production, jazz improvisation, and the music business.
