WCC student Ahmed Ghalib wins highly selective, national scholarship

For the second straight year, a Washtenaw Community College student is the recipient of a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship that awards bachelor's degree-seeking students up to $40,000 annually for as many as three years.

WCC instructor receives national 'distinguished faculty' designation

Susan Dentel, a Washtenaw Community College life sciences faculty member and coordinator of its STEM Scholars program, is one of 22 instructors from around the nation to receive 2019 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty designation from the American Association of Community Colleges.

WCC finalists for video awards include project from introductory class

The Foundations in Digital Video I class at Washtenaw Community College is designed to introduce students to “the basics of video production and editing.” Those exact words appear in the first sentence of the VID 105 course description.

One project created in that class this year has dramatically surpassed those expectations.

WCC Student Journalists Dominate State Competition

Washtenaw Community College’s student newspaper, The Washtenaw Voice, was the most honored newspaper at the Michigan Community College Press Association’s Press Day in East Lansing April 4. It won 33 awards, including 12 first place honors.

“Would you want to drink this stuff?” WCC digital video student John Inwood  posed this question viscerally with his winning entry at the 2nd Annual Millers Creek Film Festival. His video, a short public service announcement, puts a humorous spin on the serious effects of dumping motor oil in city drains.

WCC Opens New Ceramics Facilities to the Public April 4

Washtenaw Community College has a brand new, state-of-the-art ceramics studio and we welcome the public to tour the facilities at an open house Saturday, April 4 from 1:00pm–4:00pm The studio is in room 135 in the Technical and Industrial Building. Light refreshments will be served.

WCC Tuition Going Up; Increase Kept to a Minimum

This fall Washtenaw Community College students will pay a little more for their credit classes. The Board of Trustees voted March 24 to increase tuition by $3 per credit hour. That means a full-time student taking 12 credit hours will pay $36 more per semester than last year.

WCC Earth Day Festival Combines Fun and Education

How can we all live more sustainably on the earth? Students, employees, and community members will have an opportunity to get answers to that question at WCC’s eighth annual Earth Day Festival Thursday, April 16, from 10:00am to 2:00pm on the first floor of the Student Center building. All events are free and open to the public.
