Ironworkers celebrating 10th anniversary at WCC

For the 10th consecutive summer, the Ironworkers are back in Washtenaw County for their annual Instructor Training Program, bringing nearly 800 people to use the facilities at Washtenaw Community College and leave significant economic impact on the surrounding area.

It’s the 35th anniversary overall for the train-the-trainer program that brings together union apprentice coordinators, instructors, contractors, business managers and owners from across the United States and Canada.

Coin flip, inquisitiveness led WCC business student to astronomy conference

How does a community college student studying business end up at the largest conference of astronomers in the world? Well, it starts with a coin flip.

Joshua Mehay needed one more science elective to complete his Management degree at Washtenaw Community College, but couldn’t decide which. So, he flipped a coin. Astronomy won.

Navy veteran sets sail for Yale with fond memories of his time at WCC

Matthew Burtell was floating in the Sea of Japan when he first contacted Washtenaw Community College. Or maybe he was 2,000 miles south, somewhere in the South China Sea. The U.S. Navy isn’t too keen on sharing the whereabouts of its aircraft carriers, so sometimes even an Information Systems Technician aboard the USS Ronald Reagan isn’t sure exactly where he’s located.

WCC joins academic consortium at American Center for Mobility

YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN (October 16, 2017) – Washtenaw Community College joined 14 Michigan colleges and universities to form the Academic Consortium with the American Center for Mobility.
