Two WCC students awarded Jack Kent Cooke scholarships

Two WCC students are among the 73 selected nationwide for a 2013 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. WCC President Rose B. Bellanca delivered the good news personally to Susannah Spence and Fatouma Abdoulaye.

WCC offers eight new certificates, degrees

Employment opportunities were an important factor in the creation of eight new certificate and degree programs at WCC for Fall Semester. The new programs represent a broad range of growing industries, including health care, applied technology, digital media, social science, and the arts.

WCC Hosts University Transfer Fair Feb. 28

Editor's note: The Winter Transfer Fair has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28, because of the snow day on Wednesday.

WCC and U-M Sign Reverse Transfer Agreement

WCC President Rose B. Bellanca and University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman have signed a reverse transfer agreement that allows students to qualify for an associate degree at WCC with credits earned at U-M. The agreement applies to WCC students who transfer to Michigan within 15 credits of graduation.

Where will WCC students continue their studies after they graduate? Representatives from 50 colleges and universities throughout Michigan and beyond hope to answer that question when WCC welcomes them for its College Transfer Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

When Lourdes Kincaid was growing up in Ecuador, she was the kind of girl who brought home hurt animals to nurse back to health and who was ready to help whenever a family member was sick. “My parents always said I’d grow up to be a doctor, a nurse, or a vet,” she said.
