28 recruits celebrate completion of WCC Police Academy

On the last day the Washtenaw Community College Police Academy Class of 2019 would be together, class president Justin Duong reflected back on the very first day.

Mitch Smith was hired at Dura GAS Milan Metal Systems, LLC, as a temporary employee making $9 hour. Five years later, thanks to an apprenticeship program facilitated by Washtenaw Community College, he’s a card-carrying tool and die journeyman making more than triple that hourly rate.

Dr. Scott Britten, Dr. Victor Vega join WCC as academic deans

Two recently-named academic deans are among the many new faces on the Washtenaw Community College campus for the Fall 2019 semester. Dr. Scott Britten was hired as the Dean of Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences and Dr. Victor Vega joins the college as Dean of Mathematics, Science and Engineering Technology.

2 WCC students receive 'New Beginnings' scholarships from Lake Trust CU

Two Washtenaw Community College students are among the four recipients statewide of a “New Beginnings” scholarship from the Lake Trust Foundation, which is the philanthropic branch of Brighton-based Lake Trust Credit Union.

Fall 2019 Career & Internship Fair scheduled; free and open to public

The 2019 Fall Career & Internship Fair at Washtenaw Community College is expected to include representatives from an estimated 75 employers, many looking to immediately fill current job opportunities. The event is free and open to the public.

A new Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program will provide one-on-one mentoring services to clients of the Entrepreneurship Center at Washtenaw Community College, a resource hub for the college’s students and anyone in the community interested in pursuing business ownership or growing an established small business.

Child Development program earns accreditation from NAEYC

The Child Development associate degree program at Washtenaw Community College recently received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs.

Fall 2019 Welcome Day scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 11

Faculty research published in Oxford University Press book, 'Islands and Snakes'

Research by Washtenaw Community College professional faculty member David Wooten is included in Islands and Snakes: Isolation and Adaptive Evolution, a book published this month by Oxford University Press.
