Diversity initiatives create forums for connection

Washtenaw Community College is offering several events this February to celebrate Black History Month.

Intelligent transportation technology comes to WCC

Ann Arbor is becoming a hotbed for the intelligent transportation industry, and this fall Washtenaw Community College will begin offering training and activities for students who want to work in this fast-growing field. The main components of Intelligent Transportation Systems are devices and software that enable vehicles to communicate with one another and prevent accidents. The US Department of Transportation estimates that such technology could eliminate up to 80 percent of crashes by unimpaired drivers by providing alerts. Vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for those under age 35, taking nearly 34,000 lives each year.

Winter enrollment ranks among best

Washtenaw Community College’s year-over-year enrollment continues to rank amongst the best for reporting community colleges in Michigan, according to data as recent as Jan. 22.

Winter Transfer Fair Feb. 18

More than 55 representatives from colleges and universities throughout Michigan and beyond are attending WCC's Winter Transfer Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The event takes place from 10:00am to 3:00pm on the second floor of the Student Center building. It’s free to students interested in learning more about their college transfer options. The public is also welcome.

Words That Can Make You Money is an upcoming presentation and workshop that shows people how to use their unique qualities to create a scholarship essay that makes them stand out from the crowd. It will be offered at the downtown Ann Arbor District Library on Tuesday, March 4, from 7-8:30 pm.

Registration Starts Nov. 13 for Winter Semester 2014

Registration for WCC’s Winter Semester starts Wednesday, Nov. 13, for current and readmitted students. New students start registering the next day, on Thursday, Nov. 14.

WCC increases scholarships for high school seniors

WCC is offering 50 new scholarships worth $3,000 each to seniors from any high school to attend WCC after they graduate.
