Online Learning at WCC Needs Its Blackboard

Learning online is inevitable at WCC. Before students graduate or transfer to another college or university, they will have either taken an online class or had an online component in their regular classes. And that means they use Blackboard.

WCC Creates Mobile App for Phones, Tablets

A new app make it easier for WCC students, employees, and others to access the College’s website with mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers.

WCC Job Fair Features Tech Careers Oct. 18

Approximately 25 companies in technology-related businesses will be on hand at the Fall Technology Job Fair sponsored by WCC’s Career Planning and Employment Services department. The fair takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the Morris Lawrence building. It’s free to all WCC students, alumni, and community members.

Film Festival to Showcase Student Work

Since 2002, WCC’s digital video production program has gone through a lot of changes: more students, new full-time faculty, upgraded facilities including an editing lab and a green screen, and new top-of-the-line cameras, light kits, and software. One thing that hasn’t changed is the end-of-the-year Digital Video and Animation Festival, where the best of the students’ work is judged before an audience.

WCC Receives Grant to Train Police Officers

Thanks to a $45,757 grant from the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, WCC is helping local law enforcement agencies cut costs and increase the number of officers they can provide with critical legal update training.

Automotive students at WCC have a fancy new gadget in their toolbox this winter: the Apple iPad.

Get Help With Blackboard

The Blackboard used today at WCC isn’t a slab of slate hung on a classroom wall. Chalk won’t stick to it. You can’t make that nerve-numbing screech with your fingernails on it. But you can use it to pass notes to other students. You can check the status of assignments on it. And you can use it to mark your answers on a quiz or exam.

Unique Tools Level the Learning Landscape

You can’t tell by looking at people that they have trouble reading. But students who find reading a barrier to learning at WCC have access to some cool tools that will help them learn without drawing attention to the problem.
