Dingell, Williams Praise WCC Efforts to Fill IT Skills Gap

A $2.9 million grant WCC received is the kind of investment that will drive the nation forward, said Jay Williams, executive director of the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers. He made the comment to area business leaders during a visit to WCC Oct. 1. The grant is from the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Initiative.

WCC Awarded Grant to Develop IT Workforce

WCC has been awarded a $2.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor through its Trade Adjustment Assistance for Community Colleges Career Training program. The grant will fund an initiative to develop new information technology employees in Michigan.

WCC Hosts Google Workshop Sept. 19

Washtenaw Community College and the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) Greater Washtenaw Region are partnering with Google to help get local businesses online. The college is hosting a free workshop with Google experts on Wednesday, September 19 at 9:30am. Its goal: Provide small businesses and nonprofits with the online tools they need to drive Michigan’s economy.

The Ann Arbor Give Camp returns to Washtenaw Community College September 14-16. IT and business professionals from across southeast Michigan will converge on campus to assist non-profits with their unmet technology needs.
