Washtenaw Community College is one of only three community colleges in the United States chosen to host a delegation of six Chinese technical/vocational college presidents and vice presidents June 9-23.

WCC was selected to host the next meeting of the Michigan House of Representatives Community College Subcommittee on Appropriations. The subcommittee convenes on campus Monday, May 20, and a public roundtable begins at 12:30pm in Room 150 of the Morris Lawrence building.
The WCC Board of Trustees has selected Michael Finney, president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, to receive the College’s highest honor, the 2013 Honorary Associate Degree in Community Service. The award will be given during commencement on Saturday, May 18, at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center.
Two WCC students are among the 73 selected nationwide for a 2013 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. WCC President Rose B. Bellanca delivered the good news personally to Susannah Spence and Fatouma Abdoulaye.
WCC has named Dean of Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences Dr. William Abernethy as Interim Vice President for Instruction. The appointment is effective immediately.
Nearly 70 employers from the greater Washtenaw County area will be on hand at WCC’s 16th annual Spring Job Fair on Tuesday, March 26. The fair will be held in the Morris Lawrence building from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
The number of students receiving associate degrees from WCC has increased almost 20 percent in the last five years. The job prospects for these and future WCC graduates are great, according to a recent report from Michigan State University.
WCC welding student Alex Pazkowski won first place in the American Welding Society SkillsUSA U.S. Invitational Weld Trials in Las Vegas this month.
WCC President Rose B. Bellanca recently shared her vision for the College and the community with Donna Doleman, vice president of marketing communications and talent at Ann Arbor SPARK, in a podcast that’s available online.
