More than 2,000 members of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States, Canada and Australia [UA] are scheduled to arrive on the Washtenaw Community College [WCC] campus on Aug. 11 to participate in a week-long United Association Instructor Training Program [ITP].
WCC has partnered with Ann Arbor-based Merit Network to launch the first pilot program of the new Michigan Cyber Range. WCC network security students now use the new online environment as a seamless extension of their classroom.
WCC has been named Educational Institution of the Year by the American Welding Society and the Welding Equipment Manufacturers Committee. The honor is one of their 2012 Image of Welding awards.
In a continuing effort to increase recycling efforts and reduce waste, WCC is piloting the use of solar trash compactors on campus.

Finding food at WCC will be trickier after all existing campus eateries close on Friday, March 30. But never fear: Food will be available if you know where and when to look.
WCC students, employees, and guests have waited patiently this year for the opening of the College’s new parking structure. The wait ends January 9, 2012.
The public is invited to attend an open house at WCC to celebrate the renovations and renaming of the College’s Occupational Education building on Sunday, Oct. 23. That afternoon it will be renamed the Larry L. Whitworth Occupational Education building in honor of WCC’s recently retired president.
