Note Taker Guidelines and Student Responsibilities

A note taker is an individual who is retained to take notes for the student during class lecture as a classroom accommodation. Students will be notified by the LSS Program Specialist when a note taker has been assigned. If a note taker needs to be recruited, students need to make arrangements with the instructor for class notes or use alternative means to obtain notes, e.g. tape record or ask another student to take notes until a permanent note taker is assigned.

It is recommended to request the service before or early in a semester as recruitment may require some time.

Both students and note takers are required to inform the office of any absence by calling 734-973-3342. Whatever method the student uses such as a note taker/classmate hired through LSS, or tape recording, he/she is responsible for the material covered in class.

Any student concern regarding note taker should be addressed to a Program Specialist or the Director of LSS (LA 104, 973-3342).

See Guidelines for students and note takers for more information.
