Available Scholarships

You do not have to apply for financial aid to qualify for these scholarships. Most scholarships are awarded for the Fall semester. Additional deadlines (Winter and Spring/Summer) apply only if the scholarship has not been awarded in the Fall for a specific academic year. Please check with the LSS office at 734-973-3342 before applying to see if scholarship(s) are available after the Fall semester.

Burt Black Memorial Fund

The award may vary but generally is $500 for an academic year. The Burt Black Memorial Fund Scholarship is available to high school seniors and current WCC students who have physical and/or learning disabilities. Applicants who have both a physical and a learning disability receive priority.

In 2004 a memorial fund was established to be awarded to WCC students with disabilities to help pay for tuition, books, services or equipment directly related to classroom academic achievement. Inquiries about specific needs should be directed to a Program Specialist in Learning Support Services at (734) 973-3342.

Please see the link below for the application forms and more information about the scholarship. You may also pick up an application in Learning Support Services (LA 104). The scholarship includes awards for tuition and books. For more information, print out the Burt Black Memorial Fund Scholarship information form (PDF, 60K).

Application Deadlines:
Fall: June 30
Winter: October 20
Spring/Summer: February 10

If these dates fall on Sunday, the deadline will be extended to Monday. Awards will be provided as applications are received, eligibility is determined, and funding is available. The scholarships are available for one academic year and are usually awarded in the Fall. If not awarded in the Fall, the additional deadlines apply.
