AIB online
The American Institute of Baking (AIB) is a nonprofit corporation founded by the wholesale and retail baking industries. Information includes the history of the AIB and posts contact information via street address, as well as telephone and fax numbers. This site provides access to course listings, baking and food associations, and industry news. It also describes consulting and nutritional labeling services. The site offers information on research activities and publications. There are links to a site search engine.

American Culinary Federation, Inc
The American Culinary Federation, Inc., a professional, not-for-profit organization for chefs, was founded in 1929 in New York City by three chefs' organizations: the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique, The Vatel Club and The Chefs Association of America. The principal goal of the founding chefs remains true to the ACF today - to promote a professional image of the American chef worldwide through education among culinarians at all levels, from apprentices to the most accomplished certified master chefs of the culinary arts. Comprised of more than 25,000 members with over 300 individual ACF chapters throughout the United States and Caribbean, in addition to an ACF Army chapter in Frankfurt, Germany, the ACF is the largest and oldest organization dedicated to professional chefs in the USA today. The ACF was the pioneer responsible for elevating the status of executive chef from service status to the professional category in the U.S. Department of Labor's Dictionary of Official Titles, in 1976.

CHRIE: The International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education
Founded in 1946, the The International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education is the global advocate of hospitality and tourism education for schools, colleges, and universities offering programs in hotel and restaurant management and culinary arts. In recent years, International CHRIE has expanded and evolved into a marketplace for facilitating exchanges of information, ideas, research, and products and services related to education, training and resource development for the hospitality and tourism industry (food, lodging, recreation and travel services). Serving as the hospitality and tourism education network, International CHRIE strives to unite educators, industry executives, and associates.

Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Hospitality Links
The Nestle Library at Cornell School of Hotel Administration maintains these links for information ranging from the beer, wine, food service industries to cruise and lodging, real estate, nightclubs, travel and tourism. Virtual tools provide access to global hospitality network, world official tourism sites, and a jet lag calculator.

Search this site for thousands of recipes by keyword culled from Gourmet and Bon Appetit magazines. Also good for book reviews and extensive wine information.

Food and Nutrition Information Center
Presents the Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC), which is one of several information centers at the National Agricultural Library (NAL), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), located in Beltsville, Maryland. Includes information about publications and databases of the FNIC on general nutrition, nutrition education, food service, and other items. Provides details about the USDA/Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Foodborne Illness Education Information Center and the Healthy School Meals Resource System. Links to nutrition-related Web sites and the home pages of the NAL, the ARS, and the USDA. Posts contact information via mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address.

Food Marketing Institute
The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) "conducts programs in research, education, industry relations and public affairs for food retailers and wholesalers." They provide research reports, information on training and certifications, consumer information, lobbying updates, and industry news and advice. Some of the information requires paid membership, but there is also quite a bit available free on the website.

Food Safety Research Information Office
This US Department of Agriculture (USDA) website provides a searchable database of USDA food safety research. It also allows users to browse by a few key topics, such as Food Processing and Technology, or Sanitation and Quality Standards, and provides online access to USDA Food Safety publication and food safety news.

Hospitality Net
Introduces Hospitality Net, an online serive dedicated to providing hospitality professionals throughout the worldwide hospitality and lodging industry a worldwide communication platform which serves their business only. Users include hospitality vendors, hotel schools, consultants, and hotel chains. Also connects to Infotel (an interactive point of information product for tourists), the Hospitality Index, and Resnet (an IT solutions under development by Hospitality Net to enable hotel chains to make inter-hotel reservations via the Intern.

International Association of Culinary Professionals
IACP serves as a resource and support system for food professionals. Founded in 1978 to promote interests of cooking schools and its teachers, this group's site provides links to events, awards, CCP (Certified Culinary Professional) designation, industry links to such entities as the Chef's Collaborative, American Institute of Wine and Food, Slow Food, and Women Chefs and Restauranteurs. The Job Bank is a career center for job seekers and recruiters.

National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation
This not-for-profit foundation is dedicated to risk management, recruitment, and retention in the restaurant industry. It provides educational resources, symposia, and programs to train its workforce. Resource Center for Workforce Solutions presents featured articles and links to best practices, student recruiting, career development, and industry watch. ServSafe is an online food and alcohol safety link.

National Restaurants Association http://www.restaurant.org/ "Founded in 1919, the National Restaurant Association is the leading business association for the restaurant industry." Although there are parts of the site that require member login information, the site also provides a variety of information free of charge. Nutrition.gov
Nutrition.gov is a web site to hundreds of nutrition and health information products by the federal government. Topics include food facts, food safety, lifecycle issues, health management, food assistance, research and resources.

Pastry chef central
This web site is full of baking information. Users can view such departments as the Education Center, Recipe Showcase, Ask the Pastry Chef!, Bakeshop Wisdom.

The Culinary Institute of America
Founded in 1946, The Culinary Institute of America is the only residential college in the world devoted entirely to culinary education. The Institute offers associate degree programs in culinary arts and baking and pastry arts, bachelor's degree programs in culinary arts management and baking and pastry arts management, as well as continuing education courses for foodservice professionals. The college's 32,000 graduates are the first choice of leading industry employers around the world.

WWW.FoodSafety.gov: gateway to government food safety information
A gateway website that provides links to selected government food safety-related agencies. Topics include: news and safety alerts, illness reports and product complaints, foodborne pathogens, and selected highlights.
