Gamblers Anonymous
This is an international organization which offers help to individuals who have a gambling problem or addiction. Meeting days and times are listed by state/country as well as the organization's philosophy and guidelines. There is also a link to the Gam-Anon Web site which is a support organization for family and friends of compulsive gamblers.
Center for Gambling Research, UNLV
The Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, provides support for scholarly inquiry into all aspects of gambling. Included are links to research, resources by subject area, a virtual museum,
photo archive and much more.
Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming
"The Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming was established by the University of Nevada, Reno in 1989. As the first academically oriented program of its kind, the Institute serves as a structure to broaden the understanding of gambling and the commercial gaming industries." Besides information about the Institute and its programs, the site contains an "Information/Links" section with more information on the subject from research, commissions and boards, associations and councils, publishers and news to the players perspective and jobs in the gaming industry.
Responsible Gambling Council (Ontario, Canada)
Canadian organization that seeks to promote responsible gambling and prevent gambling related problems by serving as a clearinghouse of information on the subject. The Web site includes links to research (including documents), latest news, populations effected by gambling, events, help for problem gambling and more. It also has an "E-Library" built into the site which allows searching for gambling and gaming articles from a variety of resources maintained by the Council.
Web Sites on Gaming
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries has put together a Web site that can be seen almost as a "one-stop shop" for links to information on gambling and gaming. The Web links are both national and international in scope. Coverage includes, non-profit organizations, Indian gaming, gaming companies, legal/regulatory information and much more.
