Covering: Immigration Debate

American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF)
TThe AILF was established in 1987 to increase public understanding of immigration law and policy and the value of immigration to American society. It has established six program areas: Legal Action Center, Immigration Policy Center, Public Education, Exchange Vistor, Awards and Events, and Curriculum Center.

Center for Immigration Studies
This nonpartisan and nonprofit research organization claims to be devoted entirely to the analysis of the economic, social, demographic, and fiscal impact of immigration in the U.S. It features news, articles, publications, and research on topics focusing on issues that concern the government such as terrorism, national security, population, and the environment. Founded in 1985, its mission is �� to expand the base of public knowledge and understanding of the need for an immigration policy that gives first concern to the broad national interest.The center is animated by a pro-immigrant, low-immigration vision which seeks fewer immigrants but a warmer welcome for those admitted.�

NPR: Immigration Debate
This National Public Radio site presents news stories about possible reforms to the U.S. immigration policy and opinions about immigration from political leaders, members of Congress, religious leaders, and other voices from guest workers, border control personnel, immigration protesters, and other individuals who have brought this issue to the forefront of the federal agenda. In addition to the very current coverage of news, the site presents questions and answers concerning immigration policy, illegal immigration, and the U.S.- Mexico border.

Office of Immigration Statistics
The Office of Immigration Statistics within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is responsible for developing, analyzing, and disseminating statistical information to assess the effects of immigration in the United States. This site contains the Yearbooks Immigration Statistics displaying a compendium of tables that provides data on foreign nationals who were admitted to the US on a temporary basis, applied for asylum, or were naturalized for several years.

Public Agenda Issue Guide: Immigration
The site states that in its overview that ��Americans have always been ambivalent about immigration, with realistic concerns bumping into altruistic, even romantic notions.� An immigration fact file gives information on immigration rate, reason for admission, origin of legal and illegal immigrants, destination and occupation of immigrants, refugees to the U.S., level of education, and poverty status as compared to native-born.
