American Photojournalist
Beginning in 2002, this Web site "is a resource for photojournalists by photojournalists. It offers news, features, information and portfolios from real working photojournalists." The images contained on this site are keyword searchable.

Foto Search Image Library
Foto Search Image Library offers over one million images in its extensive online archive, including photography, clipart, illustrations, footage, and maps. It offers your students the opportunity to view world-class photography and art free of charge. It is the digital, online equivalent of a conventional art museum. Browsing through the library is free, and there are no access charges, registration requirements, or usage limits, but this is a commercial website the goal of which is to sell the images therein. Still, viewing, e-mailing and printing images is available at no charge.

Using this Web site you can access the catalog of the Library of Congress Print & Photography Collection. According to the description, "about 90% of the records are accompanied by one or more digital images." The homepage provides information on thet scope of the catalog and more.

New York Institute of Photography
Founded in 1910, New York Institute of Photography is the world's oldest and largest photography school, with a current home-study enrollment of over 20,000 in 128 countries. This site contains reference resources on photography, technical tips, and course catalog.

New York Public Library Digital Gallery
Draw from a wide the vast collections of the research libraries of the New York Public Library, this Web site provides access to over 275,000 digital images including historical maps, posters, rare prints, photographs and more. Browsing by names, subjects and libraries as well as keyword searching is available.

Smithsonian Institution: photography
Contains selected photography-related links to sites hosted by Smithsonian Institution museums and organizations, including online exhibitions and photography collections.

The American Museum of Photography
Web page for the American Museum of Photography offers a virtual exhibition of specimens illustrating the history of photography in the United States. The pieces comprising the various exhibitions are drawn from the private collection of Wm. B. Becker. Site is well-organized and provides the user with a history of photographic techniques and styles.

U.S. Copyright Office
U.S. Copyright Office is an office of public record for copyright registration and deposit of copyright material. This site contains copyright information on design protection.
