Severe Weather Awareness Tips
One of the most important things you can do to prevent being injured in severe
weather is to be aware of your surroundings and know where the shelter areas
are so that you know where to go in an emergency. Look for shelter area signs
in the buildings as you go to class and familiarize yourself with these areas.
These areas are the first place rescue teams will look for survivors.
Remember:
WATCH – a tornado is possible.
WARNING – take shelter immediately.
If you work in an area where you know someone might need help
getting to shelter in an emergency situation, please help. Young children or
anyone mentally or physically challenged may need your help.

The lowest level of any building is the safest place to be.
Stay away from windows, and do not use open stairways.
Please do not use elevators.
Be aware of anyone who might need assistance, and help them.
In a tornado warning, walk to the nearest shelter area.
Stay in the shelter area until you hear that all is clear.
Exit outside from the first floor and walk around the
building to come back in.
