Campus Safety & Security
We are proud to serve the Washtenaw Community College population. If you need to report a medical emergency, a crime, or accident, please call extension 3411 from any campus phone.
The Campus Safety & Security Department relies upon everyone's cooperation and involvement in maintaining a safe and secure environment. Everyone can help to assure the safety and security of themselves, as well as those around them by following a common sense approach:
- Purses, wallets, and other personal effects should not be left unsecured in unoccupied areas.
- Staff should insure office and classroom doors are locked when unoccupied.
- Always lock your car doors, and secure valuables in the trunk, or out of plain view.
- When walking about campus, present yourself in an assertive and confident manner — trust your instincts and ask for help if you feel you may need it.
Members of the community are encouraged to use a campus security escort when returning to their vehicles late at night. Crimes occur during the day as well as at night.
What We Do
The Safety & Security Department is the campus security authority responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the College community, buildings and property. Its officers enforce campus safety and security regulations, including parking regulations. In case of emergency, Campus Safety and Security officers are responsible for implementing emergency procedures at Washtenaw Community College. The office coordinates with local law enforcement agencies as needed. The Office of Campus Safety and Security Services is located on the second floor of the Campus Parking Structure on the northeast side facing the Occupational Education (OE) Building. The office is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
