Orientation

The WCC orientation process consists of both online and in-person orientations and Placement Testing. Many students are required to participate in all three components.

You must submit an online application for admission, and be notified that it has been accepted, before you begin orientation.

If you are looking for Distance Learning orientation, please visit the Distance Learning schedule.

Students with disability-related or accommodation needs should contact Learning Support Services at 734-973-3342.

Do I need to take the Online Orientation?

YES! All new students taking credit classes are encouraged to take the online orientation and some students are required to take it.

Log in to MyWCC and view your Applicant Checklist to see if you are required to take the Online Orientation.

Do I need to attend In-Person Orientation?

YES! All new students (with a few exceptions) taking credit classes must attend an in-person orientation session. Learn all about the support services the College offers to its students, meet other new students, and get a head start on your educational future.

For in-person orienation dates and times and signup details, please click the kind of orientation that is right for you:
You may be exempt from In-Person Orientation if you meet one of the following:
  1. You document completion of 15 or more academic credit hours from an accredited U.S. college with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 ("C") or above on a 4.0 scale.

  2. You provide official documentation of completion of a bachelor or graduate degree from an approved English-speaking college or university.

  3. You are a Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Visteon, or other approved apprentice.

  4. You submit a valid guest student application from your home institution.
Do I need to take a Placement Test?

After your in-person orientation session you will be given a Placement Test to ensure that you are placed in appropriate-level classes. All new students taking credit classes must complete Placement Testing before they are allowed to register for classes. For more information on Placement Testing, visit the Entry Assessment Center web site.

You may be exempt from Placement Testing if you meet one of the following:
  1. You are exempt from In-Person Orientation.

  2. You provide acceptable ACT, SAT, COMPASS or ASSET scores in writing, reading and math. Submit scores directly from ACT, SAT, provide your original score report, or have the scores submitted on your official high school transcript.
