Changing Your Schedule and Registration Status
Changing a course you have registered for... What if I change my mind about one of the classes on my schedule? Can I just not attend class? You must drop or withdraw from the class if you are not able to attend. You can drop it early in the semester or withdraw from it later in the semester. Look at Semester Dates and Deadlines section for deadlines. Until the end of the refund deadline, students may go to online registration to drop their classes. All withdrawals must be processed at The Student Connection. Deadlines Drop/add deadlines are available in the Semester Dates and Deadlines section. If you are adding classes and are on GPA or ESL hold, your registration will need to be approved by an advisor. Consult the refund schedule to see if you are eligible for a refund. (See Semester Dates and Deadlines.) Adding and Dropping Courses A student may add or drop a class or change a section without an instructor's approval on a space-available basis prior to the start of the semester. After the semester begins, students must have the instructor's authorization in order to add a class or change sections and this process must be completed by the add deadline (see the Semester Dates and Deadlines). Students are encouraged to discuss changes, drops, and adds with instructors or counselors and should print and retain copies of their final schedule until final grades or refunds are received. Students are responsible for the timely payment of all appropriate tuition and fees for added courses. Students who process their drops by the 100% refund deadline will receive a 100% refund of their tuition, technology/enrollment and contact hour fees. All other fees are non-refundable. Withdrawing from class (after refund deadline) Students are responsible for officially dropping courses they are no longer attending. If students withdraw from a course after the refund deadline, the student is responsible for paying full tuition and fees for the course. Courses from which the student withdraws after the refund deadline will be listed on the student's transcript with a grade of "W". Students may withdraw from courses until two weeks before the session ends. Changing Sections Students changing from one section to another of the same course must complete the process before the last day to add, as listed in the online schedule deadlines. Students are added on a space available basis, and instructor or department chair authorization is required after the start of the semester. Repeating a Course Whenever a course is repeated on a credit basis, the best grade and credits earned are used in computing the grade-point average. All entries remain a part of the permanent academic record. Withdrawing from Courses You will receive a "W" for withdrawal on your transcript for any courses from which you withdraw after the 100 percent refund drop deadline. You will still be responsible for all tuition and fees. You may withdraw from a course without the instructor's permission until the printed dates. The Difference between dropping and withdrawing If you drop the class, you can get a 100% tuition refund if you drop by the deadline (though you will still owe fees) and the class will not appear on your transcript. If you wait until after the refund deadline and withdraw, you won't get a refund and a "W" will appear on your transcript. If you drop early in the semester, another student can take your seat. See the Semester Dates page for Withdrawal Deadlines. Do you really want to drop that course? Stop... Think...
After making any change in your schedule, it's a good idea to use the Web registration system and confirm your account balance, or check with the cashiers on the second floor of the Student Center Building. The current ePayPlan automatically updates the payment calculations and sends the student an email when they change their schedule. | |||||||
