Become a Michigan Certified Assessing Technician

Take this 20-hour workshop and become a certified assessing technician. In 2 ½ days, you’ll prepare to take the State Tax Commission MCAT exam and learn how to assist an assessor in:

  • Calculating the taxable value for every taxable property
  • Equitably evaluating every item of taxable property
  • Inventorying and listing all property within the assessment jurisdiction
  • Preparing an assessment roll with all taxable property listed in an orderly fashion by parcel number or legal description

By attending the course and attaining a score of 75% or higher on the exam, you will be issued an MCAT certification and assessor continuing education credit for the current assessor renewal cycle.
