Banned Book Week is September 27 - October 3

Dig In - to the Unknown this month by celebrating Banned Books Week!

Banned Books Week is an annual event that celebrates the freedom to read. It showcases books that have been censored currently or historically because of controversial content such as political viewpoint, religious advocacy, sexually explicit, gender nonconforming, and other reasons.

The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted for removal or restriction in libraries and schools. Banned Books Week exposes the harms of censorship and encourages everyone to read a banned book.

The following video examines the ten most challenged books of 2019 and reasons for their censorship.

We invite you to grab a banned book or two and Dig In - to the Unknown!
