8065 - Naming Campus Buildings and Spaces

The naming for a specific individual, family or organization of College buildings, rooms, other building areas as well as campus areas and roadways shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.

The naming of campus buildings, areas of buildings, campus areas, and roadways may be considered under two circumstances:

  1. to memorialize the extraordinary lifetime contributions to WCC's mission of an individual
  2. to commemorate a significant financial contribution to the College as established by the Board of Trustees on a case-by-case basis.

Because naming forges a permanent link in the public mind between the College and the individual so honored, the Board shall determine in each case whether naming is appropriate and desirable, and this determination is a matter of discretion, based upon all of the facts and circumstances.

If the College changes a location, significantly alters a space, or razes a building, the College will appropriately recognize the donor through other means.
