Did you know?: WCC has the lowest tuition and fees for online classes in Michigan.
Testing Requirements for Virtual & Online Classes
Some of WCC's virtual and online classes require in-person testing for up to three exams. Your instructors are here to make sure that in-person testing is as convenient as possible.
How do I take in-person testing?
Step 1: Review your exam schedule
-
- Check your exam schedule in case you need to coordinate locations or times with your instructor.
Step 2: Select a convenient testing location
No matter which location you choose, a photo ID is required for all in-person testing:
-
- Option 1: WCC's Testing Center – This is a free, drop-in option for all WCC students. Please review the Testing Center hours and policies and guidelines before coming to take your test.
- Option 2: Find an Approved Testing Location – If this is the option you need to successfully take your exams, your instructor
is here to help you:
Find an approved testing center. Visit the National College Testing Association (NCTA) to search for centers. Most colleges and universities provide approved testing centers, even if not listed on the NCTA website.
- Please note: There may be a fee associated with taking an exam at another location. Students are responsible for paying any associated fees.
Before submitting the External Testing Form for students, you must confirm the exam date, time, and location with the approved testing center.
- An External Testing Form must be completed and submitted for each exam, even if using the same approved testing center.
- A form for each test must be sent via WCC email to the faculty member by the deadline.
- Late or missing forms may result in loss of the exam opportunity.
- Students and the approved testing center will receive email confirmation from the faculty once the form is accepted. If no confirmation is received within 48 hours, students must follow up with the faculty member.
- Option 1: WCC's Testing Center – This is a free, drop-in option for all WCC students. Please review the Testing Center hours and policies and guidelines before coming to take your test.
Special Cases:
- Active-duty military students: Exams may be proctored by a ranking officer.
- Dual-enrolled high school students: Exams may be proctored by a school instructor or administrator.
Instructions for Proctors
At the beginning of the term, the course instructor will reach out to proctors to confirm arrangements and establish clear lines of communication.
As the scheduled exam date approaches, the instructor will send the exam materials and detailed administration instructions directly to the proctor.
Following the exam, proctors are asked to collect the paper copy of the exam and return all materials to the instructor promptly, typically by scanning and emailing them as a PDF. Proctors should retain the paper copy until the instructor confirms receipt of the exam, then shred that copy.
To ensure a smooth and secure testing experience, proctors are kindly asked to follow these steps:
- Print the exam in advance, if applicable
- Verify the student’s photo identification
- Review and provide the exam instructions
- Confirm use of an approved calculator, if applicable
- Ensure all electronic devices are turned off and stored away
- Supervise the student for the full duration of the timed exam
If there is any concern regarding academic integrity during the exam, proctors are expected to immediately stop the session and notify the instructor without delay.
Please be aware that failure to follow exam guidelines and procedures—by either the student or the proctor—may result in the invalidation of the exam.
We sincerely appreciate your support in maintaining a fair and professional testing environment.
