Future U camps provide innovative, hands-on learning opportunities motivated by fun activities. Whether your child is a Future Maker, Future Engineer, Future Professional, Future Technologist, or Future Explorer they'll have fun exploring in these summer camps delivered live in-person this summer.

Code Warriors Scratch
Create code using Scratch block programming language to design games like Flappy Bird.
You’ll get information about coding con- cepts, design advanced games and implement
programming logic. At the end of the camp, you’ll present your storyboard and game.
For 3-5 graders
Javascript Game Design
AccelerateKID® JavaScript Programming class will teach students about advanced computer
science using JavaScript pro- gramming language. You will leave this class with advanced
JavaScript programming logic and debugging skills, an under- standing og JavaScript
syntaxes and how to develop custom apps and games using sports and animal themes.
For 6-8 graders
Roblox Game Design

Learn to develop 3D space using the Roblox Studio editor and Lua Scripting language.
You will create your own games with objects and items using computer programming.
Your goal is to under- stand the virtual game, know the toolbox and features, and
build an elaborate personalized arena to share with friends.

Minecraft Modding Java

Aug 21 - Aug 25
Get the skills to modify Minecraft plugins and mods using the Java programming language.
Develop mods for game play and design new features and items. At the end of the camp,
you’ll share your creation.

Intro to Drones for Youth
Jul 10 - Jul 14 (9am-12pm)
Jul 10 - Jul 14 (1pm-4pm)
Join us for a week-long, deep dive into the world of drones with this exciting camp!
Learn about the history of drones while gaining hands-on experience with a drone simulator.
You’ll also have a chance to work with modeling using a 3D printer. At the end of
the week, you will walk away with a mini remote-control drone to con- tinue your learning
at home.
Ages 11-14
3D Printing for Teens
3D printing and modeling technology is a fast-growing field that encourages STEAM.
(science, technology, engineering, arts, math). This class will teach you how to use
Autodesk software to design three-dimensional models used for printing objects, Students
will assemble an Ender 3D printer in the lab for use in printing.
Ages 9-14

Hand Sewing Camp
Discover this surprising art form and gain skills that will last you a lifetime! Each
day will introduce a new project to expand creativity and engineering skills. Learn
to use simple tools and materials in exciting new ways. Leave the week with an armload
of accom- plishments and a simple sewing kit.
Ages 6-14
Machine Sewing Camp
Bring your own sewing machine and join the fun of learning this valuable skill. Practice
safety, basic techniques, and professional touches while exercising creativity. Choose
from a sampling of small projects for various sewing styles that develop construction
techniques and problem-solving skills. Leave the week with confi- dence, an armload
of success, and lots of fun ideas!
Ages 8-16

Health Care Exploration Camp
Explore health care professions and possible careers in a hands- on and fun environment.
This camp will give you an understanding of what’s involved with surgery, nursing,
physical therapy, dentistry and nutrition and train you in CPR/AED.
For 6-8 graders

NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
WCC along with Mad Science Detroit have teamed up with NASA in a quest for exploration!
We’ll take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond as you explore planets,
moons, and other space phenomena in our solar system. Things will heat up as you examine
the sun and other stars and discover the difficulties of space travel. You will get
a firsthand experience of the challenges of living in space as you build a satellite
and train to be an astro- naut. You will explore various technologies that make space
explo- ration possible while bouncing lasers around the room, building a rocket and
participating in a real NASA-style rocket launch.
Ages 5-12
NASA Innovators Camp
Think and act like a NASA innovator during this hands-on program inspired by NASA’s
current missions. The primary focus will include the ARTEMIS mission to the moon,
where NASA will land the first woman and next man on the moon’s surface by 2024, using
inno- vative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before. You
will love to design patches for your mission and build a rover as you put yourself
in the shoes of an astronaut.
